Richard has a vast amount of experience in gun dog training and thrives on solving those difficult dilemma’s which can occur within training especially with Cocker and Springer Spaniels

Many people decide to train their own dog for work in the field, Richard does offer one to one lessons. An initial lesson will take place to assess the owners aspirations and the aptitude of the dog as well as an overview of commands learnt to date. Following the assessment Richard offers many different options that can include basic commands, steadiness to dummies and live game, basic retrieving and handling. Richard can also introduce your dog to swimming and jumping.

The training ground at Kingcott Gundogs consists of a large secure training paddock , 6 acres of mature woodland, 1 1/2 acre rabbit pen with fit wild rabbits on open rough grass land and is as close to a real situation as you can get for training in, 100m retrieving lane and various height fences to teach novice through to advanced jumping.

All lessons are designed to suit to owner and can be weekly, fortnightly and on an as and when basis. Richard will give some guidance on “home work” in between lessons.

Richard also offers to take dogs in on a full time basis to be trained to a level that the owner requires.
